I'm a North Carolina native, spending the first half of my life in the Raleigh area. I graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After college, I took time to explore the world outside of NC and inside of myself. Through my journeys, some painful, some fun, I felt prepared to embark on my adventure of becoming a counselor.
I then graduated from UNCG with a Master of Science in Counseling, obtaining my certification in counseling (NCC) and then pursuing my license as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS).
My work as a counselor began in community mental health where I started to understand, on a deeper level, the complexities of life and the varying human experiences.
I discovered how intertwined addictions of all kinds are with mental wellness. This then led me to begin pursuing my certification as a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), then license as a Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS).
Because of my love for assisting individuals navigating change and challenging life transitions, I then made my own transition into counseling college students. This helped me gain more experience in career counseling while also deepening my understanding and appreciation of how important life transitions, values, identity, healthy coping and a secure sense of self can be.
It was at this stage that I began to explore and share the importance of self care. Which then led me to deepen my nearly 20 year journey with yoga. My love of yoga came in waves throughout those years until I discovered Subtle® Yoga for Behavioral Health Professionals. Through this program, I became a Registered Yoga Teacher with 200 hours of training (RYT200). At this training, I learned that yoga is so much more than fitness. Yes, it may help you stretch or even tone various parts of your body but, it also tones your mind, your nervous system and your connection to your higher power.
Because of my deep love for humanity and helping people grow into their best, most compassionate selves, I felt compelled to share my knowledge and skills to help more people.
It was from this space that Cultivating Compassion Counseling sprouted.
I'm here to help you connect and cultivate compassion within yourself, with the people in your life and the world around you in a way that feels true to you and will help bring you more joy and peace.
